Who we are
The Afghan Diaspora for Equality and Progress (ADEP) is a non-profit organization consisting of Afghan-American professionals, scholars, and activists from across the country. We are bound together by a vision of a brighter, more equitable future.
Our Mission
To raise awareness of social injustice and to organize and empower change-makers. We are committed to the intentional self development necessary to facilitate and collaborate with the next generation of young Afghans while creating an equitable future.
How we formed
ADEP was born in the aftermath of Trump’s election and served as a wake up call. We formed out of the 2016 Afghan-American Conference to amplify our community’s voice.
Our Goals
We know changing the dialogue will not be easy. That’s why we have clear goals to help us reach our vision of a brighter, more equitable future.
We believe that positive change is rooted in progressive ideals. We celebrate these while fostering critical discussions which are vital to our community.
Our young leaders ought to be equipped with the right tools and language so that they possess a stronger understanding of their own and others’ communities.
Our aim is to serve as facilitators and mentors, and work in collaboration with the next generation of young Afghan American leaders in our respective communities. Through communal activities based on our shared experiences and culture, we strive to empower those trying to make an impactful change in their community.
We are committed to change through fostering strong bonds with other marginal communities. We affirm the power of strength in numbers and inclusivity. We believe a small group of dedicated individuals can change the world.
