WASHINGTON D.C. – In the past week, the United States has witnessed a tremendous amount of concerning violence. The attempted massacre at a black church prior to the killing of two African-Americans in a grocery store parking lot in Kentucky. Bombs mailed to preeminent leadership of the Democratic Party by a fervent Trump supporter. And in a Pennsylvanian synagogue on Saturday, we witnessed the biggest single murder of Jews in American history. Not only is this a reminder that senseless gun violence is yet to be addressed by our leaders but it is an alarming wake up call that white supremacist violence will continue to persist as long as Donald Trump enables it with his policies and continued hate speech. While white supremacist violence is nothing new in this country, the Trump administration facilitated its poisonous growth. The attacker at the synagogue was triggered by the administration’s lies about the migrant “caravan.” The Afghan Diaspora for Equality and Progress stands in solidarity with those affected by this week’s tragic violence and will continue to fight for a more peaceful world free of white supremacy, antisemitism, and bigotry.
